That card pretty much sums up how I feel about Xmas.
I love the food, tinsel, fairy lights and whole ridiculous wintery wonderland
aspect of it
(in a 30 degree Australian summer)
but the
whole
season of peace, love and kindness idea
has me rolling my eyes.
But yesterday
the Xmas fairy must have been hovering near by and sprinkled me
with the
Spirit of Christmas.
I normally avoid the shops during this time of year.
It saves me a LOT of money
(impulse shopper from hell)
and
also saves my sanity.
But after playing nurse to 3 sick kids over the weekend, I needed to get out of the house and hit our local mall,
9 months pregnant
with a 4 and 2 year old.
Stoooooooopid idea.
4 year old pewked all over me in the playground.
Then the 2 year old pooped in the only spare nappy I'd brought.
Really pooped.
Sigh.
I'd had enough.
Then a fellow mum noticed that Jazz was having an exorcist moment and brought over some wipes
and a plastic bag and asked if I needed a hand.
A grandma noticed me wilting in the Target queue armed with nappies, wipes and a stinky kid and let me cut in front of her in the queue.
Nice.
Then I came home, passed out on the couch only to be woken by a knock on the front door.
Ready to go postal on who ever was disturbing nap time,
I opened the door to see the postie
with a stash of pressies for me!
Thank you
to
Shanna from A Burning Ambition Candle Parties for the delicious smelling candles,
Katrina from Pretty Pushers for the hot pink delivery gown
and
Lisa from Zen Designs for the bracelets.
So the Christmas crankiness dissipated.
Today I noticed
Shanna had this pic on her
facebook page.
How true.
So because I liked the buzz those acts of kindness gave me, I wanted to pass some good karma onto you!
Lisa sent me three of her Because...Bracelets
(which the little girls tried to pinch immediately
as they do to all of Lisa's pieces)
but
I got them back and
I'd like to give them to 3 lucky people.
I have purple, aqua and olive.
To enter,
let's get into the Spirit of Christmas!
(just rolled my eyes anyway, lol)
I want you to share a random act of kindness that you've experienced,
either
as the
giver or receiver.
(and let me know if you'd love a particular colour).
The winners will be drawn next Tuesday, 20th December 2011. Australian residents only this time.
Make sure you have a contactable email attached to your comment.

Oh dear what an outing to the shops - yuck and please don't tell me that is going around the coast again...
I dont know if it is a random act but today I decided to shout my two besties to a few days at the byron @ byron resort a the end of this week because they were getting a little stressed with the whole season and need to be taken away somewhere for some R and R.
Oh so beautiful bracelets, i'd love some of that aqua kindness to come my way!
When sitting sobbing in peak hour traffic blocking the entry to a major freeway in my broken down car while PREGNANT, most cars manouvered around me honking and swearing at me. 2 lovely guys pulled their cars out of traffic although they would possibly never get back in, and pushed my car to the side of the road for me while I waited for the NRMA. Just having that stress of abuse lifted made all the difference and I never forget them. Karma kisses sent their way regularly.
Oh what a day for you :(
I'm so pleased that someone was able to come to let you cut in line, and then to discover all your lovely pressies would be wonderful.
I hope you get some rest now.
My RAOK was the other day I tried to get a pram onto a crowded bus, I felt very bad for all the people, but I needed to go to the city too - 2 people stood up so I could get the pram into the little parking space, and they both smiled as they did so - This made me feel a lot better after putting them off their seat.
Wow how to turn a shitty day around.
Glad you got a spoilt, you deserve it after braving the shops at 9 months preggers and with little ones in tow.
My random act of kindness....does not pelting smashed mangoes at the peoples heads who ran over my mangoes and made me feel like a complete tool count?...yeah probably not! :) xx
Poor you! It's so nice when strangers are lovely when you need it, it's like the universe is smiling down on you. I love that Spark of Kindness image too.
My raok is donating magazines to the local hospital. I have been giving them to the local hospital volunteers to hand out to the patients. I hate being stuck in hospital with nothing to read!
xx
Geez Louise! Feeling you pain and then some. That is a flipping nightmare.
It's funny how at 'end of your tether' times sometimes end with a random nice thing happening. It like the universe knows and wants to pick you up and brush you off.
I try and help people out as much as I can when I am out and about. The other day a boy of about 8 was desperately trying to find something in the grass. I asked him what he was doing and he said that he has lost two dollars for his tennis lesson and his mum was going to kill him. I asked him if I could give him $2. He reluctantly accepted. I hope that I saved him some grief that night!
Whoops, I forgot! Yes please I would like to end your Zen bracelet competition. I am really into red and orange at the moment.
Not long after baby number four was born, number three decided that every visit to the shops would involve him running away as fast as he could.
After one particular shopping episode, he bolted and I had to run through the shops with Ava strapped into me with the baby bjorn (wearing thongs too), and when I finally caught him, he started screaming the place down. I had to drag him kicking and screaming to the checkout where I had left my completely full trolley, and try to get to the car.
One lovely lady came and offered to push the trolley for me, which was the distraction bailey needed cause he immediately stopped crying and panicked she was stealing our food!
I'm glad someone helped you. Small acts of kindness go a long way to restoring our faith in humanity.
Oh, and I love the olive. :)
Lovely lady to RAK you and the Grandma too.
We went for a Sunday drive up the PUTTY Rd into National Park - got a totally punctured tyre and our spare tyre/rim didn't fit (long story but FIL gave it to us when the other tyre was damaged the week before - hubby trusted his Dad - who had same 4wd vehicle)
We were stuck on a bush track in the middle of nowhere and approaching darkness - 20+kms to the main road with a terrified kid who refused to walk or stay with either one of us.
A One and only car passed - they stopped thank God - random act of kindness strangers drove us (hubby, I and 10 yr son) 80kms home (mostly they were going our way).
I cleaned out my kids rooms not long back, and we threw out and donated so many clothes, toy, books, the list goes on. They cant even remeber what they got last christmas. :( So I decided it was time they learnt the joy of giving instead of getting. This year they have chosen their own presents, but donated them a local kids christmas charity drive. Santa will still come of course, but all the presents we would normally buy and give to each other (throughout ny extended family too) we have put under the Kmart wishing tree, or donated to a charity. I do have a present box that I add to during the year, and I have wrapped all those gifts, and on Christmas day anyone who wants a pressie pops $5 in a jar, takes a gift, and the money gets donated to the our foster kids overseas. We have also made Christmas cakes and goodies for some of our local oldies. The kids have had a ball and got really into giving this year for a change! I hope to carry this on. :D And thankyou so much for such a gorgeous generous prize, I love the aqua bracelet. xox
Awe, you poor thing. I know those kind of days, when I was pregnant w/ #6, I had an issue just like that at the mall Xmas of 2006. Keep your chin up, I'm so glad folks came thru for you.
Random act of kindness recently? Well, some old granpa in line behind me at the grocery store had an attitude, yelling at everyone. Even pissing me off, and then I notice he had trouble breathing, a fake leg and arms full of food. Not only did I let him cut in front of me, I loaded his groceries and helped him to his car.
Merry Christmas

You can have the worst day and the smallest RAK can have the most profound effect.
My latest was an impromptu visit to the local cat haven with towels and sheets for the cats, biscuits, tea, coffee and sugar for the volunteers. The girls and I will be doing it again next week in time for the holidays.
So glad your day turned around!
Isn't it wonderful when people are just good to each other?
I think that I get to experience a lot of good in people in the way they treat my boy (OMG there are a LOT of not so good but lets not dwell on that) just a smile or a bit of patience as he orders his favourite deli meat makes my heart soar.
